What is an Escape Room?
It is the next generation in immersive storytelling and team "sports." Started in Japan in 2007, Escape Rooms have rapidly spread across the globe. Appealing to puzzle lovers, adrenaline junkies, cosplay enthusiasts, intellectuals, and parents who just want to get their kids away from screens for an hour, Escape Rooms are an entertainment destination for team building and fun. An Escape Room is a heart-pounding, brain-challenging, real life adventure. Groups of friends and families are given a mission based on the themed room of their choice. They must find clues and complete a series of theme-based mental challenges within 60 minutes, or their mission has failed. Depending on the theme of the room, this could mean they need to work together to escape a prison cell, catch a bad guy, save a life, find a treasure, or travel to another planet. The options are limitless.
Why Break From Reality Escape Rooms?
Northern Virginia's newest destination for family-friendly entertainment, Break From Reality Escape Rooms was born out of our family's love of escape room adventures. After playing all the escape rooms in the area, we are eager to add our immersive, theme based adventures to the great games our community already offers. Our rooms have been designed to transport you to another reality while focusing on unique, in-theme puzzles that immerse you in the game. All puzzles have been designed by Break From Reality game makers specifically for each adventure. For instance, all our puzzles in Madame Belladonna are based on real items of divination and magic and all our Chasing Valhalla puzzles are based on true Viking culture and lore. At Break From Reality Escape Rooms, you and your friends and family can escape to a new reality where you are the heroes and adventure is real.
Are the Escape Rooms Private?
Yes - All our Escape Rooms are reserved by the hour for single groups. Escapes are priced per person with a minimum charge.

Can I take pictures, record, or live-stream Break From Reality Escape Rooms?
What if I am late for the start of my game?
Of course. Our clients' safety is our number one priority, so you are never actually locked in the room and every room is observed by a Game Master the entire time. In addition, our facility has a state of the art fire suppression and alarm system and our games are not designed with physical challenges that could lead to injury.
We have designed our rooms to be family friendly and enjoyable for all ages- with adult supervision. If any member of your party is 15 years of age or under, there must be at least one adult present.
NO. It is important that each room's adventure remains a secret for the enjoyment of all our players. This means NO SPOILERS. We will happily take a group photo for you after your game.
Please try to arrive 15 minutes before your game begins. This allows you time to check-in, use the restroom facilities, ask any questions you may still have, and start your game on time. If you arrive later than the start time we will do our best to accommodate you, but there are no guarantees. If you start your game late, the time will be deducted from your 60 minutes.
What is your cancellation policy?
All bookings and games are non-refundable. However, with proper notice (at least 24 hours), you may be able to reschedule your game without penalty.
Can I bring more people along even though I already registered?
Absolutely! You will be charged at check-in for the extra players before your game begins.
Is there anything scary inside?
While our rooms are designed to be immersive and exciting, there are no items designed to be deliberately scary.
What about parking?
It is ample and it is free! We can't stress enough that everything about our Escape Rooms has been thoughtfully planned to give you a "break from reality." Yes, even the parking.
