Beginners guide to the Auction House

Dear players, this guide is made in the purpose of helping you out when it comes to the economy in World of Warcraft. You will be able to learn how to use the all mighty Auction House and how to make the best purchase and bargain. Let\’s start with the Auction House itself.

Wow\’s Auction House has been a subject of envy for all players that were playing other mmorpgs, simply because it was the best made solution for players. Auction Houses or in short AHs can be found only in the capital cities in the old map of Azeroth: Stormwind, Darnassus, Ironforge and Exodar on the Aliance side and Undercity, Ogrimmar, Thunderbluff and Silvermoon City for the Horde side.

How Auction House is used

After getting the AH you need to click on one of the Auctioneers. There are categories of items and goods on the left side that you can search through. The sub-categories make your search easier by clicking on the Weapons as an example. The upper frame shows a text box that displays Name, Level – Range and a drop down menu that reads All. By clicking the All tab, you could specify your search as poor, common, uncommon, epic or rare items depending on the quality of the item that you are searching for. Click on the Search button on the right side while searching through all by leaving it as it is. It is advisable not to search through all items, since there are chances of losing so many items on the AH. Type the exact name of the item that you know in the Name text box and click on Search. Then the AH will show the current list of all available items. You can go to the next page/pages by using the link given at the down side.

The option, that is, armor and weapons will allow you to see how an item would look on you. You will be able to see it by holding the CTRL key and left click on the given item. This option is generally known as \”the dressing room\”. Check the price before you buy the item and make sure for it. The selected item\’s maximum price is the Buyout price, and you can click on the Buyout button that is given at the bottom of the AH window for purchasing the given item instantly.

You can bid on the item as soon as you see the first price. You can bid by clicking on the Bid button which is present at the bottom of the AH window. Obviously, you can bid on an item for the cheaper price, but don\’t forget that there are other players also who will do the same, and so it will be a long chase. In case a bid is taken from you that you have bidden on the amount of gold and if somebody outbids you, you are returned the same amount on your mail. On the contrary, if you succeeded in buying the item without being outbidden, then the item will be sent to you via mail as soon as the particular auction expires.

If you would like to sell an item, click on the Auctions tab on the left side at the bottom of the AH window. Place an item in the Auction item slot; fill in the Starting price and the Buyout price and the check the length of your Auction duration. You can put 12 hours for short, 24 hours for long and 48 hours for very long auction. It is advisable that you check the prices on the same item before you make your own auction, lower your price a bit and then put it on. If the item is sold you will get the gold on your email with a small percentage fee that the AH takes. If the item isn\’t sold it will return to you when the auction expires.

You could always monitor your bids and auctions by clicking on the Bids and Auctions tabs.
